ReloFaith

Discover and Belong

In November 2019, I decided to pack my stuff up and move to Houston.  One of my goals after relocating was to reconnect with my faith and find a new church home. After the Covid-19 pandemic hit, it became much harder to get up go, and visit any church, so I did a lot of "online shopping", per say.  I googled away, and asked the ONE friend I made here in Houston for recommendations, and still no luck -- so ReloFaith was born.


ReloFaith is a passion project, it is a mobile application designed to help relocating people reconnect with their faith and find a new church home in their new town/city.

Challenge

Finding a new church home is an extensive journey , especially when moving to a new town, city or state where there are no familiar faces. Individuals find themselves navigating through different platforms in search of  potential churches to visit,  only to find that their experience may not match their expectations.

Initiate Research 

I initiated my research with a Proto-persona. The ideal user for ReloFaith is ...

  1. Someone who's recently moved to a new city/town.

  2. Young adult exploring or strengthening their faith. 

  3. Looking for a new church home base.​

Research Goals

My research aimed to discover how believers choose which church to commit to.  To obtain participants, I sent out a prequalifying survey. I recruited users between the ages of 25 and 45, all of whom, at some point relocated to a new city and joined a new church. The demographic aligns with my target user base.  I conducted in-depth interviews with 5 of these individuals

After conducting qualitative research, I synthesized my data creating an affinity diagram and empathy map.

User Insight

Through user interviews, I learned that people often explore several churches before committing to one. Recognizing this, individuals need an efficient way to discover churches for potential visits.

By creating a directory that includes metadata such as location, size, ministries, leadership, and more, my goal is to empower users with valuable insights.

This approach will enable my app to provide users with detailed profiles of the churches, empowering them to make informed decisions and avoid investing time in visiting places that don't align with their interests.
